Charity (sadaqah) is due upon every joint of a person on every day that the sun rises. Administering justice between two people is an act of charity; and to help a man concerning his riding beast by helping him on to it or lifting his luggage on to it is an act of charity; a good word is charity; and every step which you take to prayer is charity; and removing that which is harmful from the road is charity." Reported by al-Bukharee (Eng. Trans. 4/146/no.232)
On 27 December 2008, Israeli F-16 strike fighters launched a series of airstrikes against targets in Gaza. Struck were militant bases, a mosque, various government buildings, and a science building in the Islamic University in the Gaza Strip. These strikes resulted in civilian casualties. The UN and Palestinian medical staff said at least 434 Palestinians were killed and at least 2800 wounded, in the first five days of Israeli strikes on Gaza. Israel began a ground invasion of the Gaza strip on 3 January 2009.
